A paper check arrived. How do I post it?

Sometimes there is no electronic answer at all. Just a paper check in the mail with a stub. You enter it by hand, and from then on the system treats it exactly like any other payment.

Record the header first. Click Record payment, choose Payer check, then enter who paid, the amount from the stub, and the check number, so you can find it later.

Then apply it line by line, the way the stub breaks it down: this much to the first service, this much to the second. When every dollar is placed and nothing is left over, record it.

The posting history now shows a payer payment marked Manual, because you typed it in. Aside from that small tag, the account cannot tell the difference. It reads just like an electronic remittance.

One more step, and it matters. The money is in, but the claim may still say “sent, waiting on payer,” because no electronic answer ever arrived. That status is honest, not broken. So you tell it the outcome yourself: in the Payments card, click Override status.

Only real outcomes are offered: paid, denied, or rejected. A reason is required, and the button stays dead until you type one. Say what happened, for example “paper check, no electronic remittance.” Your reason stays right there in the Payments card for the next person who opens the claim.
